Significance of the Design:

Stirrup rings take their modern name from the raised form of the bezel, which resembles the outline of a stirrup. Rings of this type were a distinctive feature of High Medieval jewellery and were commonly made to hold a small gemstone. The raised setting gave even a modest stone a strong presence on the hand.

Modern Adornment:

While stones from medieval rings are often missing by the time they are discovered, pieces of this form were originally made to carry colour and sparkle. Your reproduction can be hand-set with a Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald or Diamond, recreating the rich appearance such a ring may have had when first worn more than 700 years ago.
